Enjoyed some me time at this restoration site and enjoyed the environment. The premise is squeaky clean...nothing like from 1875 when it was erected! Also nice to see people actually interested because this place has some superb artifacts with narratives that compliment the collection.A mix of mythology and history. Also met someone from the archeology department of the museum who was acting as a guide to a visitor...Private tours are organised for key visits.Would recommend spending time at the tribal art floor which is like a studio and will attract art lovers for sure...has a very vibrant feel. The art gallery alongside is only open for specific exhibition which is hosted. Photography is allowed in the museum but video is prohibited. They also have a collection of wild animals which have been preserved using chemicals. Overall a nice experience only if you are a history and art lover otherwise you might be bored...

It's definitely one of the top 20 Museum in India and the best in Chhattisgarh. It's worth visiting to see multiple excavated artifacts from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from Jabalpur, Sirpur, etc. There is a whole display of wildlife in Chhattisgarh. It has also displayed the Chhattisgarh's Indigenous Culture and Traditions very well - Bastar Art , Chhattisgarh's Musical Instruments, etc. One could easily spend 3-4 hours exploring the whole place and the ticket is only 5₹.

Located in front of the collectorate this museum has three floors. The present building of this museum was inaugurated by then president Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 21st March 1953. The museum has a ticket of ₹5 per person. It contains artifacts from the pre historic period to modern day portrayal of chattisgarhi tribal art and culture. The museum also contains statues of stone, metal, wood representing the spread of hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism all over the Chhattisgarh. It also contains fighting tools ranging from the prehistoric era to modern days swords. It also contains a plethora of musical instruments that are used over time in chhattisgarh. One section of this museum is dedicated to different forms of dance and art of chhattisgarh. This is a very clean and well maintained place a must visit place for people who want to know about the history and culture of the CG. Students preparing for cg exams should also visit this once.

A true heritage store of India. Entire Central India rule starting from the 10th century is revealed in the museum. The tribal communities and their lifestyle displayed very well. Felt proud of our cultural heritage and advancement in those decades. Jai Ho, India!
